Thank you Babysitter!

When I saw these Babysitting Adventure sets at Lettering Delights I thought they were so cute.  Whether you use a babysitter or have a young child these sets will be very handy for all sorts of projects.

Recently, I have been using teenagers to baby sit my 3 youngsters for short periods of time.  

I always remember when I was a teenager and used to babysit, I began to get the munchies when 

I had put the children to bed.  So, I thought I would leave a couple of cookies and a 

tag card for my teenage babysitter which I cut with my Pazzles Inspiration. 

I think it went down a treat because when I returned home the cookies had been eaten!

 And, she appreciated the tag card which she took home with her!

For the tag card and the sentiment on the cookie bag I used the Graphic set with the PRINT & CUT technique in my Pazzles.

Babysitting Kit by Lettering Delights

If you have a daughter just starting out babysitting, this kit is not only fun to make, but a great help to those new babysitters! Having a babysitting kit not only ensures that there will always be something for the kids to do, but it also has useful guidelines and information for the babysitter to keep handy.

Materials:

Babysitting Kit - Potpourri (printables)

To make the kit, we used graphics from both the Harajuku Girls Graphic set and our New Babysitting Adventures Graphics Set. The bold font is LD Hang Ten and our journaling font was SNF Clarissa. We decided we wanted to make both a notebook and a fun tote, so we began by designing a fun front for our tote that we could print on transfer paper and iron onto our bag. It's important to remember to create a mirror-image of your design before you print it on the transfer paper.

Make sure your bag has been ironed and is as wrinkle free as possible before you begin. Then lay your image, image side down and centered onto your bag. Make sure you follow the instructions on your transfer paper, but mine said to set the iron at the highest cotton setting and to iron for 120 seconds. Let your image completely cool before rolling off the backing paper.

Once the bag was done, we needed to decide what things we wanted in our notebook  (i.e. name, address, emergency contacts, allergies, special instructions, tips and tricks, games, and fun songs). And created the pages using fun graphics and fonts. You can see what pages we made here:

Babysitting Kit - Potpourri (printables)

I sized the pages down to 4.35 by 5.5 so we could fit 4 to a regular sized sheet of paper and printed out. Then I created an easy folder by cutting out a strip of paper from cardstock that was 6" by 12" if you want to fold in at the sides, or if you want it to fold up from the bottom make it 9" by 8".

When you are all done, put it together, grab some cheap markers and coloring books from the dollar store, throw in some fun stories, and you have a fun kit that is sure to bring happiness not only to the children but will  impress their parents as well!

Sheri Berry inspired 2012 Calendars

My daughter requested a small calendar for her new school bag.  I love Sheri Berry designs and when I saw her new sets of Wee are the World 2012 calendars @ Lettering Delights I thought they would be perfect for a quick project.

Using my Pazzles Inspiration, (or similar electronic die cutting machine) I marked my printer page out by going to VIEW on the menu bar at the top of the Pazzles software, then CHECK - SHOW PRINTER PAGE.  I simply downloaded the files, imported and resized them in my Pazzles Studio Pro software.  I created a grey box around the file purely to mark where to cut with my guillotine when I had printed them out!  Yes, rather than print and cut I decided to dust off my guillotine and cut around the calendars for speed.  The size of each printable was resized to Height 4" x Width 2.58" using the transformation box in the software.  I could only get 4 months on an A4 sheet so I just deleted the previous month and inserted the next 4 months, then went to PRINT, and so on.

I then layered on some larger sized cardstock and then used my Bind It All again.  I did add a layer of acetate sheet to the front and back pages to protect the calendar.  Finally, I tied lot of ribbon and netting to complete this simply calendar for Alice!

You could download the calendar and just print off the individual pages without altering the size to give yourself a larger calendar.
